After extra time; Logica won 3-1 on penalties.

Walsall against Arsenal? Hereford against Newcastle? Wimbledon against Liverpool? Sutton Utd against Coventry? York City against Manchester United? It is difficult to choose the greatest giant-killing of all time, but this fine Logica performance must be up there with these most memorable of cup upsets.

That they only finally beat premier division side Montague Arms in a penalty shoot-out, should not detract from an impressive victory. Failing to convert their normal time superiority into more than a single goal only served to set the scene for a dramatic finale in which young keeper Humphreys played a starring role of Dickie Guy proportions.

After a two week break, Logica assumed their tag of underdogs with relish, and displayed a 'nothing-to-lose' attitude from the start. Abbott set the scene with three long-range snap-shots in the opening ten minutes. Despite some early pressure from Montague, which found Humphreys in outstanding form, Logica created the better openings. The ever impressive Toman was causing havoc on the left in his more advanced role, and it was the Geordie's strong run and low cross which set up the best opening of the half, but, unfortunately for Logica, Spence was just unable to divert the ball home at the far post.

The chances of a major upset increased as Logica started to dominate after the break. Once more the solid defensive triumvirate of Trovato, Clarke and Hatton, aided and abetted by the unthinking doggedness of Millar in midfield, frustrated Arms and restricted them to few chances. Hatton in particular stood out. On this confident foundation, Logica took the game to their opponents and should really have scored three or four. Abbott had the best chance but was perhaps a shade unlucky when his deft lob came back off the cross-bar. Xenophontos and Sam's thoughtful inter-passing had pleased the eye all morning, and it was this combination that finally unlocked the Montague door. Sam was sent clear down the right by Xenophontos, and this time a sharp Spence stabbed home Sam's accurate, low cross to give the Scottish ace his third goal of the season.

Logica now settled back to enjoy the fruits of their labour, but typically only found a banana skin waiting for them. A strong run from deep by Montague's main man in midfield found Logica's defenders backing off and backing off, until the Arms player was inside the penalty box and had little option but to slot home an equaliser.

Extra time found Logica re-establishing their superiority but once again failing to find the net. It was Abbott who squandered the best chance, having the ball nicked off his toe just as he was about to shoot, after being sent clear by Lean's clever pass. Woolhouse was also unlucky on a couple of occasions and Lean himself had a good shot which just cleared the bar. The game was marred slightly by an accidental but serious injury to a Montague player late on. Having fallen awkwardly under no challenge, the player lay in immense agony and for the second time this season an ambulance appeared on the pitch at a Logica game.

And so to the nightmare lottery of the penalty shoot-out. First up was Abbott, the usual penalty-taker, who has never missed from the spot in a Logica shirt. Well, he is getting closer and closer to losing this record as for his second penalty running the keeper got a hand to his low shot, but couldn't keep it out. 1-0. Up stepped the first Arms taker, looking a tad unnerved by the baying crowd (Izza), and indeed proved to be suffering from a bad case of the Waddles as he blasted over. Next into the spotlight for Logica ambled Spence (the crowd still baying), but the keeper guessed right and managed to save. Things looked a bit ominous when the second Montague penalty was converted. 1-1. Trovato showed Gianfranco Zola a thing or two in coolly side-footing home Logica's next penalty. 2-1. The next Arms player struck his penalty well but Humphreys produced a super-human leap and diverted the ball away to return the advantage to Logica. Woolhouse showed no jitters and confidently stroked home. 3-1. Montague's fourth taker sloped up nervously but hit his shot well. Humphreys again leapt to his left and in Seamanesque fashion produced a glorious save which took Logica into the next round of the Cup. Two hours later in a nearby pub, the Logica players had all decided on the cut and style of the suits that they will be wearing onto the hallowed Wembley turf in May.
