This was the moment Clarke had been waiting for. His last game in charge of Logica F.C. The players decided to mark this momentous occasion by presenting Clarke with something special which would remind him of his four-year reign : only ten of them turned up. So it was backs-to-the-wall from the first whistle and heroically our boys held out for over an hour. The defence was outstanding, perhaps a more appropriate tribute to the Clarke Era, and high-flying Battersea Park really didn't look like they would break through the Red Line. As so often happens in these situations, a somewhat fortunate opening goal past Spence (the latest keeper of the gloves) weakened Logica's resolve, and three more goals followed in the remaining quarter. Not Captain Clarke's finest memory as Supremo.
