Characterisation: A nippy, dextrous and skilful defender who has even managed to improve with age, Oliver's brand of eighties full-back wizardry is now rightly considered a very fine vintage indeed. Despite limited success getting the ball into the net, a successful internet future was perhaps inevitable after his renowned full-back partnership with Billy Arnold, who was responsible for the DotSon legend. Eschewing the crude and base limelight hogging activities of the Official Tier One Elite, this true Tier Oner goes about his business in an understated and effective manner, even somewhat embarrassed by his arrival in Bordeaux by Lear Jet on the morning of the France98 World Cup.
